Brian James Freeman is the author of Walking With Ghosts, The Painted Darkness, Blue November Storms, The Echo of Memory, The Halloween Children (with Norman Prentiss), Darkness Whispers (with Richard Chizmar), and four mini-collections of his short fiction. He is also the editor of Dark Screams (with Richard Chizmar), Midnight Under the Big Top, Detours, Reading Stephen King, and the Halloween Carnival anthology series.

Hidden away in his hidey-hole somewhere in the North-East of England, Vincent Chong whiles away the days, months and years creating artwork that has appeared around the world. During his schooldays he sometimes sold his doodles to schoolmates and now feels very fortunate to make a living doing what he loves, working as an illustrator and designer. He has illustrated the works of acclaimed authors, designed dust jackets for books, created concept art for film and TV, and has even been awarded accolades for his art, but The Girl Who Builds Monsters is the first children's picture book he has ever illustrated.
